MORE ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The idea for this painting came as I watched a tui singing in our walnut tree. It was silhouetted against the sky so that all I could see was the outline of its body, and it was singing with such gusto that it was puffed up like a balloon with all its feathers ruffled out in little spikes. I've always thought of tuis as very slim birds so I was fascinated to see this rotund version! The title for this piece was also inspired by the lacy white patterning round their necks, which contrasts so beautifully with the irridescent blues and greens of their feathers.
The original painting of Lace & Ruffles is available for purchase.

"Such a gorgeous piece of art and a real quality print of it too. I'm American but my husband is a kiwi and we're going to be settling down in the US but we wanted our daughter to have a little bit of New Zealand
in her nursery and this is it! And what a pretty little bit of New Zealand it is! :)" -
Megan
